This film started in April of 2011. 

From June 2011 - November 2016 we filmed in Haiti and all over the United States. This process yielded over 300 hours of footage that took seven different editors four years to capture, log, transcribe, assemble, and cut into what is now the 90 minute documentary How (not) to Build a School in Haiti

I started the Haiti doc after filming my first feature film, Close Quarters, in the fall of 2010. In the time it took me to finish the Haiti doc, I directed seven more feature length films and countless other shorts and commercials. It's hard to put into words the experience outside of just saying that it has been an incredible journey and it would not have been possible without lots of support.

The film has gotten into over a dozen film festivals (and counting) and we have done countless outreach screenings with universities, high schools, church groups, libraries, and non-governmental organizations like the UN and Engineers Without Borders - the goal of all of these is to engage in discussions about how we can best help places like Haiti.
